Man - Chest - Hair

Well we went to Manchester in April. We managed to get a great deal on train tickets so we thought we had better snap up the opportunity. Manchester, on the West coast of England, near Liverpool and Sheffield, is, in many ways, just another city. A lot of London folk asked us "Why do you want to go there????"

Well, we visited some friends that we made on the Rally, who actually live in Warrington, on the outskirts of Manchester. We stayed centrally, though, and they came in and showed us some of the local museums, pubs, and curry restaurants. It was really cool to see them again and to get some local insite. Sam's Chop house does really yum traditional English food!

We also went out to Disley, about 35 min by train from Manchester, and walked out to the National Trust Estate at Lyme Park. This house was used as the setting for Mr Darcy's Pemberley in the BBC adaptation of Austen's Pride and Prejudice. (Un)fortunately it was a bit too chilly to make Daniel leap in to the lake in his white shirt and jodhpurs (haha) but we had a great time anyway. Here are some more pics for you all.

Better Late than Never... Up in the Lakes

OK so we know we haven't been very good at this recently but we now have downloaded a whole lot of photos and we have a laptop (from Susanna's new job!!!!) so we really have no excuse...

EASTER in the LAKE DISTRICT....
Was really beautiful. We stayed in Keswick, which is north of Windermere and east of Cockermouth. There were a lot of other campers in the farm paddock that we had pitched our little dome tent in but that didn't last long. On Friday night, the wind howled a massive gale. Unbelievable - it was so noisy that Dan ended up sleeping in the (tiny) car. The next morning, half the other tents were destroyed and people were packing down what remained. The weather hadn't finished with us yet.... it started snowing in the early hours of Sunday am so that when we woke up, all was quiet and still and surrounded with several inches of the white stuff.

Despite this, we still managed to get out and drive around much of the lake district. We also went walking to Castlerigg Stone Circle, up Walla Crag and down along the eastern shores of Derwent Water, and around the lakes in Grasmere. Here are some of the pics.

Back in London!

Our time in London, despite the stresses of finding jobs, a place to live and being in such a big and busy place has been really good. We've got out and about a bit and been to a few restaurants, comedy gigs and tourist spots around London.

Daniel got a job as the Direct Marketing Manager at The Anthony Nolan Trust, a charity that runs a bone marrow register to match donors with Leukaemia patients. He is really enjoying the job and has a big campaign he has to organise during his three month stint there.

Susanna is now working for a law firm inTown, CMS Cameron McKenna LLP. She is working as a paralegal in the Commercial Litigation team. The nature of the work means it is not exactly scintillating but Susanna appreciates the experience and is hoping that it may open more doors down the track.

We are moving into a studio flat in Tufnell Park next Saturday which we are looking forward to. After five months of living out of pack, it will be great to settle down for a while.
